One of Sentinel’s most notable spring sports teams has seen its season commence with distinctive success. The senior tennis team, comprised of the majority of Sentinel’s elite tennis players, plays on Mondays and Wednesdays at Sentinel’s very own tennis courts. These matches are a must see due to fierce rivalries with other West Van schools, such as Collingwood, where spectators can watch some truly spectacular tennis. In order to find these dates, and the subsequent lineups, be sure to walk by Mr. Cheung’s old room (250) as they are posted outside the class.
On full display during these intense tennis matches are the talents of Sentinel seniors such as Tyler Radloff, Alex Priatel and Colette Beauvais. These talented players decided to join the spring team not only due to their love for the game, but the team spirit as well. Talking with Sentinel’s number two singles player Alex Priatel, he affirmed that “Tennis is such a lonely sport, but school tennis brings a cooperative/competitive atmosphere into the game”. The team spirit plays a major part in these players’ decisions to make time in their busy schedules to showcase their tennis skills and hopefully this collective attitude can push the senior team into becoming provincial champions. Unfortunately, some of Sentinel’s brightest tennis stars don’t partake in this team sport which is all the more reason that Sentinel students should attempt to watch these games and give them the support they deserve.
