“A Christmas Carol” features Charles Dickens's story of Ebenezer Scrooge–a unique, atmospheric, and scenic reading proudly presented by Leslie Dos Remedios and the Sentinel Jazz A band. The performance took place at the Presentation House Theatre in North Vancouver, where I was fortunate to enjoy the wonderful experience live. While there is no telling if the Sentinel Jazz A Band will be able to collaborate with the extraordinary staff that allowed the show to happen, I am hopeful that such a miracle might happen once more next year- a Christmas miracle perhaps.
The combination of Ms. Dos Remedios' engrossing narration and character voicing paired with the seemly dubbing of the Jazz A Band made for an experience that was like that of a live theatrical play. Gosh, I’m now even more excited for the upcoming collaboration between the Sentinel Orchestra and Theatre Company in February performing the play: “The Little Mermaid”! For more information you may follow the Sentinel Music Program’s official instagram page or keep watch over the school bulletin.
