The Senior Boys soccer season is nearing its end. After a commanding 3-0 win over West Van in order to keep their provincial dreams alive, Sentinel’s senior soccer team will need all the support possible in their elimination game on Halloween to qualify for this year’s provincial tournament. They will play the number 1 team from the Vancouver division (which will either be Lord Byng or Kitsilano). Even if they aren’t able to make provincials, it would suffice to say that this season has been one to remember for all the players and parties involved.
Starting off the season will an unsettling 2-1 loss to Collingwood, the Senior Boys quickly rebounded with a hard-fought win in penalties against Carson after tying 3-3 in regulation. These two games foreshadowed the rest of the season as the Senior team enjoyed a rollercoaster ride of disappointing losses and exhilarating victories. Though, their sense of spirit and grit was unmatched throughout the whole campaign. This was epitomized during a 2-0 loss to Handsworth, arguably the best team of this campaign, as the Sentinel squad was reduced to nine players, due to sickness and injury, yet somehow they have been able to make it an incredibly difficult match. All in all, no matter the results in the coming week(s), the Sentinel Senior Boys soccer team deserve high praise for the way they have represented Sentinel over the course of the season.
