The wait is finally over! A movie theatre has returned to Park Royal, but not just any movie theatre: a VIP one. What makes it so special? Grab your popcorn and find out.

Since 1999, Park Royal has not had a movie theatre; however, West Vancouver now boasts this beautiful luxury facility. At first glance, it has all the typical movie theatre snacks like popcorn, drinks, and bags of candy, but in addition to all this, the interior has a fully-equipped arcade. The theatre also offers an expanded menu of food and beverages: an array of burgers and sandwiches, including a Beyond Meat Burger; desserts include churros, ice cream sundaes, mini doughnuts, and brownies and those of legal drinking age will be able to take advantage of an expansive selection of alcoholic beverages. These four theatres feature wide luxury recliners, and all food and beverage orders are delivered to the viewer’s seat before their movie begins. Anyone who enters the VIP area, however, must be of legal drinking age (Daily Hive). Heated seats are also in the works, although they’ll be implemented later in the year.

Not to worry if you are underage as the other seven theatres are just as luxurious: all the auditoriums include leather recliner seats and spacing ranges from 50 to 212 seats. It includes one DBOX screen, two UltraAVX screens, and five 3D screens. (Cineplex)

With this state of the art movie theatre now just an 8 minute drive from our school, everyone can enjoy the latest and most exciting movies. This week, you can watch one of the most anticipated movies of the year: “Avengers: Endgame.” It follows the dramatic ending of “Avengers: Infinity War” in the Marvel universe. Definitely a must-see for all moviegoers. Also, coming soon to the theatre on May 9th is “Pokémon Detective Pikachu.” It is a live-action mystery movie with Vancouverite Ryan Reynolds starring as detective Pikachu who must unravel a mystery with the help of the only human who can talk with him. If neither of these are of interest, here is a list of all the other movies playing this week:
