A day in Sentinel is not complete without getting a snack from the cafeteria. Be it perogies, cinnamon buns, pasta or cookies, there’s always a line to get delicious food from the cafeteria.
The cafeteria is such an integral part of our school. This month, the Sentinel Sun sat down with Paula, the head of the cafeteria, to learn more about her and her work at Sentinel.
Paula has been involved in the food industry for decades, and this is her third year working at Sentinel. While most students don’t get to school till 8:00 am, Paula is here by 6:00 am every morning to start cooking! She works with a team of 4 in the kitchen and says that “we’re a family.”
Paula makes fresh food every single day, and receives fresh produce multiple times a week. Every day she has to make a pasta, soup and a special. Her favourite food to make is pasta, and her favourite food to eat is seafood.
Paula says that the cafeteria is so important because it teaches “kids to learn how to manage money, make healthy choices and be on a budget.”
Over a hundred Sentinel staff and students circle through the cafeteria every single day. Paula says the best part of her job is “seeing and interacting with kids and teachers.”
Thank you Paula for the smiles, delicious food, and many contributions to the entire Sentinel community!
Be sure to say thank you to Paula when you see her and show your appreciation for all the hard work she does :)
