Student Summer Highlights '18

Yes, summer is over, but that doesn’t mean we can’t relive our wonderful memories! Here’s what some Sentinel students did over the summer:

“This summer I went to Shanghai for an international fencing camp with my teammates. We got to train in the largest fencing arena in the world. Every day we got to try new foods and meet with fencers from Shanghai.”

- Christina Z.

“This summer I went to a ballet summer intensive in New York City. I loved the busyness of New York City and getting to train with world class ballet teachers every day.”

- Alexandra Y.

“I went to California and San Francisco to visit universities: Stanford, Berkeley, UCLA, UC Irvine USC and then back to Washington to look at the University of Washington. They're all so nice it's not even funny. ”

- Victor L.

“A once in a lifetime opportunity to study with world renowned pianists and collaborate with some of the best young musicians in the world was given to me this summer in Warsaw, Poland. I will never forget the incredible memories I made with my amazing friends and mentors.”

- Michelle X.

“This summer I went an investors meeting in Toronto; the city was extremely hot and it made life very difficult. I loved the fact I didn’t have to spend money on anything. . .”

- David Z.

“This summer I learned how to water ski in Ontario on Lake Huron. I even learned how to jet ski with only one ski! I also raced in the Canadian Henley Rowing Regatta and came first in the 500m dash!

- Ehren P.

"During the summer, I attended the Basic Aviation course in Cold Lake, Alberta after a selection process from early February. During the three weeks I was on base [Cold Lake is one of the active R.C.A.F bases in Canada], I was taught the foundations of aviation: meteorology, navigation, and the principles of flight, but at the same time, I was

getting trained on my leadership qualities, which mainly involved working efficiently under pressure and working with my unit. Overall, this was a great experience as I made many new friends within the cadet program, and in the end, this course is preparing me for my overall goal in the program: to apply and be accepted into the Power Pilot Scholarship course.”

- Kyne W.
