Have you ever felt like you weren’t allowed to have your own hopes and dreams? Have you ever wanted to escape somewhere alone? And most importantly, have you ever been followed home while delivering boxes of candy only for your wife to laugh at you as you stand there in absolute terror?
If you answered yes to any of those questions, we have just the perfect after-school event for you to go to!
This year, Sentinel Stage is presenting the 1936 play, “You Can’t Take It With You!” Directed by Ms. McGuinness-Gill, the three act performance takes place in New York City and follows the life of the eccentric Sycamore family. The comedy is full of humorous, light-hearted, and exciting moments, from not-so-mild tax evasion to forbidden love to drunk actresses on couches who may or may not have hallucinated about snakes in a box.
But even the most explosive (fireworks incoming!) story has its soft moments. “You Can’t Take It With You” explores themes like living life on your own terms, standing up for what you believe in, and discovering authenticity in a world full of expectations and judgment. Get ready to cry alongside the characters as they’re forced to face the crossroads between what their families want and what they want.
The show takes place on:
Tues Feb 28th @ 7pm
Wed Mar 1st @ 7pm
Thurs Mar 2nd @ 11am
Fri Mar 3rd @ 7pm
Sat Mar 4th @ 2pm
Sat Mar 4th @ 7pm
