Homework is an inevitable part of life , yet it always takes longer than expected to actually get it done. Here’s a list of easy things to do that can make studying more efficient!
1. Use Times New Roman for notes because it’s the fastest to read.
2. Read it 5x, Say it (out loud) 5x, and Write it 2x This helps a lot with memorization, even if you feel silly talking to yourself.
3. These apps/websites…..
Photomath - you can take a picture and it will show and help you understand the all steps involved to the math problem.
Quizlet - everyone’s favorite cue card website! You can make cue cards surrounding concepts and play a variety of games to test them (it’s great for memorization).
SelfControl - this app blocks access to websites of your choice for a time period of your choice. It’s very aptly named- even if you delete the app it will still block the websites. Also, it’s free!
4. Tap into your visual memory
Use your visual memory by associating images with key things you need to memorize. Maybe images are easier to remember than words.
5. Prioritize:
Do urgent and important things
Do urgent and less important things
Do important but not (yet) urgent things
Do less important and not urgent things
6. Summarize paragraphs
You’re essentially refreshing your memory right after you read a passage- not only will you understand better, the information can stay in your head for longer.
7. Reward yourself
Leaving a trail of food might motivate you to finish reading the passage.
8. Make your notes interesting
With highlighters, coloured pens, boxing, underlining, diagrams, etc. A white page full of black-inked paragraphs is like the equivalent of speaking in a monotone- the brighter and more interesting the notes, perhaps the more interesting the concept.
